My name is Jeremiah Castle (I go by Jeremy) and I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Metropolitan State University of Denver. My areas of specialization include American politics, research design and methodology, and public law.
Most of my research is on public opinion, with a focus on religion and politics. My upcoming book Rock of Ages: Subcultural Religious Identity and Public Opinion Among Young Evangelicals (Temple University Press, expected release late-spring 2019) shows that the evangelical tradition's institutions have led to remarkable stability in the political attitudes of young evangelicals over time. If you'd like to read more about the book, click here.
I am also in the early stages of a new project on religion's role in polarization and the "culture wars." The first article from this project, "New Fronts in the Culture War?: Religion, Partisanship, and Polarization on Religious Liberty and Transgender Rights" was recently published in American Politics Research. I expect that this project will become my second book.
I also study media and politics, where my research is focused on how popular films do (and do not) impact public opinion. This research has been published in Social Science Quarterly, The Social Science Journal, and Sage Research Methods Cases.
Outside of academia, my hobbies include playing guitar and hiking.
